Do What Matters

The Ten Minute Bible Hour Podcast

A few years ago I stumbled on Matt Whitman and his Ten Minute Bible Hour channel on YouTube. Matt creates some pretty great content on the topics of church, the Bible, Jesus, Israel, history, and religion. Matt has the heart of a teacher, and he comes at these topics with great knowledge, but also with a healthy dose of teachability. He does not come across as being the ultimate source of all knowledge and authority on these topics. It makes his content very approachable. I'm happy to say that I have learned so much from his content.

The Podcast

In 2019, just before the beginning of the pandemic, Matt started a new audio podcast, cleverly named The Ten Minute Bible Hour Podcast. "Season 1" of the show was a deep-dive of the Gospel of Matthew, the first book in the New Testament of the Bible. Over the next three years, Matt created 800 episodes, each with a duration of seven to fifteen minutes. These episodes were released each weekday. Never have I been able to take such a deep, rich, and complete look at a book of the Bible than through Matt's tireless efforts to study and teach on the scriptures. This podcast has been a game-changer for me, and I use his material as a catalyst for leading a Bible study at our local church.

Matt completed the book of Matthew, verse-by-verse, passage-by-passage, in December of 2022. The question then is: "What next?"

Season 2

In January of this year, Matt changed the approach completely to tackle the entire Bible, one book per day, about 10-15 minutes per day. 66 books in 66 episodes. It's been awesome to see how the entire Bible comes together as one, big, cohesive narrative story, all inspired by God. On Monday of this week, Matt completed that series with the book of Revelation. Two more "overview" episodes have been released this week, one each for the Old Testament and New Testament overviews.

So what's next?

On Monday of next week, Matt will start season three of the TMBH Podcast. It will be another deep-dive season, this one into the book of Esther in the Old Testament. This book is unlike any other book in the Bible in that God is not mentioned anywhere in the book. However, the hand of God is clearly evident in the narrative of the story.

If there is one podcast that I can recommend above any other, it's this one. Even if you are not religious or have any desire to be a Christian, there is no denying the importance of the Bible. No other book on Earth has had the effect and influence in our world that this one, and it makes sense for everyone to have an understanding of the story in the Bible even if you do not believe their is a real deity behind it. I hope you will consider subscribing to The Ten Minute Bible Hour Podcast.
